SOOP, formerly AfreecaTV: watching Korean streams from abroad
SOOP is the new name of AfreecaTV, the Korean platform that invented the “BJ”. The Korean service lives at sooplive.co.kr and a global version at sooplive.com. Thousands of broadcasts run at the same time, from games to talk shows.
Watching from outside Korea
You do not need a Korean address to watch. Visitors outside Korea who open a Korean channel link (ch.sooplive.co.kr/id) or player link (play.sooplive.co.kr/id) are sent to the same channel on the global site (sooplive.com/station/id and play.sooplive.com/id). We checked this from Europe in September 2026. Streams keep their Korean audio, and titles stay in Korean.
SOOP publishes a machine translation of each stream title. KBJ Radar shows it under the Korean title on every streamer page, so you can tell a chat stream from a game night before you click.
The embedded player
SOOP offers an official share player, which KBJ Radar uses on streamer pages when the streamer is live. The first time, it asks you to accept SOOP's media-player terms; after that it plays muted, and you can unmute it or open the full channel.
19+ broadcasts
A BJ can set a broadcast to 19+. Those streams require you to sign in and pass SOOP's age verification, which is built for Korean identity checks and is usually not available to foreign accounts. KBJ Radar never previews them.
Categories worth knowing
Women streamers mostly use 토크/캠방 (Talk / Cam) and 뮤직/댄스 (Music / Dance). Among the broadcasts we logged in the last 30 days: Talk / Cam 92%, Music / Dance 8%. Other big categories include 먹방/쿡방 (mukbang and cooking), 버추얼 (virtual streamers) and dozens of games.
Replays, gifts and subscriptions
Most channels keep replays (VOD) of past broadcasts; KBJ Radar lists the latest ones on each streamer page. Some replays are for subscribers only. Viewers support BJs with star balloons (별풍선) and monthly subscriptions, which is why so many titles mention balloon targets.
